Zoella's Great British Bake Off Look

To put it mildly, my relationship with Zoella has been fraught with difficulties. And we don't even know one another and I don't even dislike her. I guess I should say that my relationship with her FANS has been questionable, ever since I said I wasn't in love with her beauty range in one of my videos. I can only hope that was water under the bridge because I am digging her look on the Great British Bake Off. I know this was filmed a while ago, but I'm still putting together a little "Shop the Look" post for you today. She was very cute!

Zoe, second from the left, looking adorable.

Dr. Phil and Sexist Language #womenslives

Firstly, I have to say I am a huge fan of Dr. Phil. I watch his show almost everyday, although I feel like his material might be growing a bit stale (how many times does he need to convince people they are being scammed by Nigerian con artists?!). However, there is a disturbing sexist trend I've noticed on his show and have been wondering what the reasoning is behind it.

The other day, I was watching a preview for an upcoming Dr. Phil episode, which was titled "Pretty Little Mean Girls." As this may be a play on the ever popular Pretty Little Liars series, it could be seen as a one-off and not something to pay much attention to. But this is just the latest in a disturbing trend I've noticed on his show, particularly involving underage guests.

Cutting Down on Content for My Blog?

Recently, I've found it a bit difficult to get in the mood to write in my blog. After being so excited about it and prolific, I find I am just lacking the discipline and desire to post so often.....however, my efforts have gone more toward YouTube where I am making content twice a week now. Between blogging, YouTubing, writing for an online magazine, doing my PhD and having lupus, sometimes blogging seems to take a backseat because it is the slowest way to gain an audience. Often, I feel like I'm shouting into a giant black hole and no one is listening (more on that later in a blog post--I think all bloggers go through this) and it may be wise to cut down on the content for a bit whilst I up my YouTube content?

What do you guys think? Would you rather see 1x per week posting on the blog and 2x per week on YouTube or vice-versa? Do you enjoy my blog posts or my YouTube videos more? I seem to get more interaction from the latter, and I guess it creates more of a sense of something personal.

Let me know! xx

7 Celebrities with Connections to the Holocaust

Seeing as last week was Holocaust Memorial Day and I have lots of random facts about celebrity Holocaust connections living in my head, I thought I would share some of them with you. I hope you enjoy this little mix of pop culture and history...and a bit of a reminder of how far reaching the Holocaust actually was.

1. Lisa Kudrow
Lisa Kudrow, famous for her iconic role as Phoebe in Friends, is the great-grandchild of a Holocaust victim. Her great-grandmother, who hailed from Ilya, Belarus, was killed during the Shoah along with many other members of Lisa's family. Kudrow's grandmother was raised in Ilya, but emigrated to the United States before WWII. The story can be seen in Kudrow's episode of Who Do You Think You Are, which is available to watch here.
