Birthday Blog :)

A few days ago, I turned 21 (for the 9th time). Because of the tube strikes and railwork, we had to ditch our original plans of having a group of friends come down from where we live to go to a pub in London before we spent the night at a hotel. Unfortunately, we had gotten the hotel from Hotwire weeks in advance, before we were aware of the strikes and rail work, so Luke and I went anyway. A friend of mine from several years back had also already bought tickets from York to come down to London, so she was there as well.

We didn't end up doing much in London, but our hotel (the Melia White House) ended up upgrading us to a suite at no extra charge, so we got to relax in a huge king sized bed. Other than that, we walked around Camden Town twice (once to get Chinese and once to get Mexican food) and I used every opportunity I could to take pictures with my new camera. I am still figuring it out, so the pictures aren't perfect yet. Also, the woman who sent me my camera forgot to send me the charger as well. I purchased one from Amazon that came right after we left for the city. As a result, I didn't really get to experiment with my camera too much, and the battery died during dinner. But we did get to meet up with my friend Hannah and have a nice birthday meal.

At any rate, I had a lovely birthday and Luke and I got lots of ideas for another day out in London in the near future--especially since the sun is starting to rear its head. London is typically only 30 minutes on the train away from us, but with the rail work, it was an hour and a half on the bus. ANNOYING.

Stay tuned for a birthday haul (you can do them, even when you are 21 + 9)
Here are some of the pictures I took:
